Statement from the City of Saline City Health Official

Thursday, March 26, 2020

Thinking that only older people and those with underlying comorbidities are at highest risk makes the young people feel that they are not at risk. This is a great misunderstanding.

EVERYONE is at risk of catching and spreading the COVID-19 infection. This includes all ages. It includes YOU. Behave as if you may have the infection. Treat everyone else as if they may be infected.

The City of Saline recently commissioned a local engineering firm Tetra Tech to conduct a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) Siting Study.  The City Council requested that the Study analyze four specific possibilities that the community could consider to provide sanitary sewer service in the future, including: 1. Update and expand the current WWTP on the existing plant property, 2. Construct a completely new WWTP, 3. Participate in a regional authority (Ypsilanti Community Utility Authority – YCUA) and 4. Combine joining YCUA with updating/expanding the current WWTP.
