SALINE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT - REHABILITATION NOTIFICATION
TO: RESIDENCES AND PROPERTIES IN PROXIMITY TO THE TREATMENT FACILITY

RE: Saline Wastewater Treatment Plant Rehabilitation Project –
The City of Saline is utilizing Sanitary Sewer Funds for the following rehabilitation work, which is required to: repair aging equipment, address process decencies, and maintain treatment efficiency, operations, and discharge limits. The main components are:
< Demolition of existing mixing tubes on primary digester.
< Removal and replacement of the existing waste gas boiler and collection system.
< Replace valve piping in solid processing building.
< Replace aging sludge handling pumps.
< Replacing and relocating waste gas burner.
Note: A majority of the project will occur inside existing structures.
The City had hired Tetra Tech of Ann Arbor to provide services for the study, design, and construction phases of the project. The rehabilitation contract was awarded to the Franklin Holwerda Company of Wyoming, Michigan at a bid cost of $1,276,000.
Tetra Tech staff and city staff will be monitoring and inspecting the construction activities. The contractor has established the tentative timetable below for the first 5 months of the 12-month project:
TENTATIVE (ESTIMATED) SCHEDULE FOR PART ONE OF THE PROJECT:
< End of July - Mobilization
< August - Prep, clean and replace valves for Septic Receiving Station
< September - Prep, clean, valves/pump/electrical work for Sludge Holding Tank
< Sept/Oct - Prep, clean, mixer/piping/pumps/electrical work for Digester Tank
< Oct/Nov - Prep, install: Heat Exchanger; Boiler; Gas Dryer; Process Piping
