November Election Information


If you would like to place your name on the November ballot to run for a seat on City Council, or for Mayor, you must submit your Nominating Petitions and other qualifying documents with the Clerk’s office by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.  Petition packets and information to become a candidate are available in the Clerk’s office at 100 N. Harris Street.  Please stop by the Clerk’s office at City Hall, 100 N. Harris Street, or contact the City Clerk at (734) 429-4907 ext. 2209 for further information. 

Are you registered to vote at your current address in the City of Saline?  If you are not registered, and you want to vote in the upcoming August Primary Election, the last day to register or change your address is Monday, July 9, 2018.  New registrations or changes in your voter registration can be made at any Secretary of State office, or at your local Clerk’s office.  The Saline City Clerk’s office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Will you be out of town or on vacation on August 7th?  If so, don’t forget to get your absentee ballot so that you can vote in the Primary Election.  If you are 60 years of age or older, physically unable to attend the polls without the assistance of another, confined to jail awaiting arraignment or trial, or cannot attend the polls because of the tenets of your religion, you are eligible to vote by absentee ballot. Please note that we are expecting a higher than normal turn-out and your wait in line may be substantially longer than normal.

Absentee ballots for the August 7, 2018 Primary Election are now available in the Clerk’s office.

An application or request for an absentee ballot must be made for “each” Election.  Applications are also available on the city’s website.  The last day an absentee ballot can be taken out of the Clerk’s office for voting is at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2018.  City Hall will be open on Saturday, August 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for the purpose of issuing absentee ballots or accepting voted absentee ballots. An absentee ballot can be voted in the Clerk’s office on Monday, August 6, 2018 up to 4:00 p.m.  All absentee ballots must be returned by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted.

Polling Locations for the August 7, 2018 Primary Election:

Precinct #1 and Precinct #2 – Liberty School (gymnasium), 7265 Saline-Ann Arbor Road, Saline

Precinct #3  - First United Methodist Church (Christler Hall) 1200 N. Ann Arbor, Saline

The Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please remember to bring your picture ID. The following types of photo ID are acceptable:

Michigan driver's license or state-issued ID card

Driver's license or personal identification card issued by another state

Federal or state government-issued photo identification

U.S. passport

Military ID with photo

Student identification with photo from a high school or accredited institution of higher learning

Tribal identification card with photo

The ID does not need your address. If you do not have photo ID or do not bring it with you to the polls, you may still vote. Simply sign an affidavit stating that you are not in possession of photo identification. Your ballot is included with all others and is counted on Election Day.
