WWTP Update

The Saline WWTP was in full compliance with all Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, And Energy (EGLE) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit regulations for the months of February and March of 2020. The most recent violations of the NPDES Permit occurred during mid-January of 2020. These violations were for total suspended solids and fecal coliform and were due to the heavy rainfall event of January 10-11 when 2.5 inches of rainfall were measured at the WWTP. The resultant flows at the WWTP were 5.03 million gallons on January 10 and 3.73 million gallons on January 11. The WWTP design flow is 1.81 million gallons per day.

Additionally, the Saline City Council will be conducting a work session on April 27, 2020 at 6pm to discuss the status of the Saline WWTP’s EGLE violations.  The public is welcome to attend.  The meeting information will be posted on the City of Saline’s website.
