Gary R. Roubal, P.E. City Superintendent/Engineer, Saline, MI
Mr. Roubal was raised in Menominee, Michigan, and graduated in 1965 from Menominee High School. In September 1967, he joined the United States Marine Corps, completed infantry training in California, and graduated 2nd in both boot camp and BITS-Machine-gun school, he then served 13 months in Vietnam near the DMZ earning 8 service/commendation medals.
He attended the University of Wisconsin-Marinette campus for two years and transferred in January 1971 to the University of Michigan and received his BS degree in Municipal Civil Engineering in December 1973. At a post-graduate Psychology Class he met that special someone and was married in 1977. He now has two married children and one grandchild, their Christian faith is central in all life experiences.
He was employed by the City of Albion from January 1974 to July 1987 as the Assistant City Engineer, completing a wide range of municipal infrastructure projects during a very active period. In July of 1987 he accepted the position of City Superintendent/Engineer, Building Official, Planning Commission Liaison, and other duties. As the first city-employee engineer, he was challenged with creating the engineering program and also preparing for, and managing, the significant building and infrastructure growth that began in 1988 and ended in 2007.
