Mission Statement

The Saline Area Fire Department’s mission is to provide fire suppression, rescue, and fire prevention to the citizens Fire Engineof Saline, Saline Township, York Township, and Lodi Township. To achieve this mission, the department’s responsibility is to preserve and protect life and property from fire and other catastrophes, and to provide education and training to the public in the area of fire prevention.

Saline residents may call the Saline Area Fire Department at (734) 429-4440 to have a burn permit issued or submit one online by completing the following form.

Division Description

saline fire trucksThe Saline Area Fire Department currently is staffed by a Fire Chief, and 26 firefighters. These firefighters provide fire suppression, rescue, medical emergency response, and public education. The Fire Chief directs the activities of the 26 firefighters. The Fire Chief has an Assistant Chief, a Captain, and five Lieutenants.

Goals

Provide adequately trained personnel to perform firefighting and First Responder duties.
Maintain efficient emergency operations through planning, organizing and use of resources.
Reduce fire loss due to arson, negligence, or violations of fire code.
Control outside burning by the issuance of burning permits.

Objectives

Provide increased firefighter safety through improved protective clothing and operating procedures at the fire scene.
Provide public education on fire safetly and awreness of potential fire hazards through presentations in the community.
Provide extensive training for firefighters to effectively and safely handle all types of emergencies.
