Saline Area Fire Department - Fire Chief

Salary: $80,000-$85,000

The Saline Area Fire Department welcomes your interest in serving as our next Fire Chief. Our fire service area covers 98 square miles including York Township, Lodi Township, Saline Township and the City of Saline. The nine-member full-time department is housed in one station. The full-time team is supplemented by 12 paid-on-call responders. The Fire Chief reports directly to the Fire Board. Saline is a vibrant and growing region located in Washtenaw County, adjacent to the University of Michigan. The ideal candidate will be a college graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, Public Administration, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, or other related field, - Minimum ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in a Fire or Emergency Services Department with a minimum of Five (5) years of command staff experience ; - an extensive knowledge of the Incident Command System - Fire Officer I and II certification. Utility Person IV

The City of Saline is accepting applications for a full-time Utility Person IV to perform various duties and functions related to the operation and maintenance of the waste water and water treatment facilities. This position requires a high school education or GED, two years of related experience. Class D or D-4 EGLE certification preferred or the ability to obtain within 2 years of employment. Full-Time Police Officer

The City of Saline is seeking applicants for the full-time position of police officer. The successful applicant will join a supportive, professional team dedicated to community-oriented policing and traffic safety. Applicants must be Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) certified or certifiable and be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation. Bachelor’s degree preferred. The City of Saline is approximately 4.3 sq. miles with 9,200 residents, has a thriving downtown and business community, and outstanding public schools and municipal parks. SALINE REC CENTER

We always accept employment applications for part-time Parks and Rec positions.  We will contact you only if we have an opening for which you qualify. We keep applications on file for six months.

Front Desk Reception

Saline Rec Center is looking for an energetic receptionist to join our front desk team.  Candidates should possess excellent communication and customer service skills, have computer experience, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Position is part-time up to 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule which will include some early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.  This is ideal for college age students and those returning to the work force. Complete an Application for Employment and return it to Jody Roberts at Saline Rec Center. 

Lifeguard

Lifeguards are needed to guard the indoor pools at the Saline Rec Center. Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining a safe aquatic environment during a variety of pool activities and will provide first aid/emergency care as needed. Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications are required. Must have own transportation. We offer very flexible scheduling and free fitness classes to all employees. Pay rate is $9.65-$10.50 depending on experience.

Swim Instructor

Swim instructors are needed at the Saline Rec Center. Swim instructors are responsible for teaching swimming lessons to a variety of ages and abilities. We offer lessons to children as young as 6 months with a parent to teens and adults. Extensive swimming knowledge and previous swim lesson experience is required. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification preferred but not required. Must have own transportation. We offer very flexible scheduling and free fitness classes to all employees. Pay rate is $10-12 depending on experience.


Summer Camp Staff

Camp Counselors provide children ages 5-12 with a caring, safe, fun, and recreational environment during Summer Kids Camp.  Staff promote interactions between campers through organized games and play, encourage participation in all activities, enforce camp rules, manage camper behavior and monitor/supervise campers in pool and locker room areas.  Camp counselors must take appropriate steps to provide a safe environment for all campers including: training in first aid, cpr and AED, following COVID safety measures, maintaining appropriate staff to camper ratio, acting as a positive role model to campers and keeping campers in organized groups throughout the day.  Counselors must work as a member of the staff team through open communication with Camp Director and fellow staff members and maintain a positive and helpful attitude throughout the summer.  Camp days and hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7am-6pm from early June through late August.  Staff typically work 35-40 hours per week and must be at least 18 years of age.  Please contact Sunshine Lambert for more information: slambert@cityofsaline.org.  

Building Supervisor

Building Supervisors are needed for the Saline Recreation Center. Building Supervisors are responsible for supervising the facility, patrons and staff. Responsible for building operations, pool operations, snow removal, and other duties as assigned.  Position requires frequent contact with employees and public with varying degrees of skill. Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills required. This is a part time position. Available shifts will include early morning, nights and weekend. Must have own transportation. We offer very flexible scheduling and free fitness classes to all employees.

Kids’ Corner

Child care providers will provide children ages 2 months through 9 years of age with a caring, safe, and fun environment in Kids Corner while their parents use the Rec Center.  Responsible for safety of children while in Kids Corner as well as providing fun activities for children. This is a part time position. Available shifts will include morning, nights and weekend. Must have own transportation. We offer very flexible scheduling and free fitness classes to all employees.
